Tahlequah, OK - The Cherokee Allotment Exhibit is now on display at the Cherokee National Museum. The allotment of Cherokees lands in 1906 was considered the final dispersion of Cherokee lands. This exhibit shows how the lands were divided, resistance to the enrollment process, and impact on the Cherokee people.
Included are text panels providing information, a set of genealogical records showing how one Cherokee lost her tribal affiliation because of an enrollment process, allotment certificates, and other documentary records.
The exhibit, along with the museum, Ancient Village, Adams Corner Rural Village, and Cherokee Heritage grounds are funded in part by the Tourism and Recreation Department of the State of Oklahoma.
