TAHLEQUAH, OK - Trail of Tears Association Oklahoma Chapter will host the Trail of Tears Association (TOTA) Conference scheduled for April 25 and 26 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. The Oklahoma Chapter will provide a bus that will depart on April 23 from Tahlequah and will return to Tahlequah on April 27.The bus trip will tour historic sites that will include the memorial site of White Path and Flea Smith at Hopkinsville, KY, a portion of the Benge Route and the Taylor Bushyhead, Hildebrand, Wofford Routes. A tour of the Mississippi River Crossing area will also be included.
Chief Smith and Cherokee Tribal Council member John Ketcher will participate along with noted speakers, which include Duane King, Dan Littlefield and Rowena McClinton.
Workshop presenters will include Bill Clements, Fred Fausz, Lynn Morrow, Burl Self, Sharon Ashton, Lindsay Robertson, Hershel Price, Jess Bushyhead, Claud Strauser and Marilou Awiakta.
