TAHLEQUAH, OK - Cherokee Nation Marshals Brett Mull and Murray Gross recently graduated from the Council of Law Enforcement Education Training (CLEET). The marshals completed a ten-week course that covered a wide range of training. To receive CLEET Certification, the officers had to pass the test for state officers.Until they are certified, officers can’t make arrests and are unable to work alone. At present the Marshal Service has four officers that are completing federal certification, seventeen CLEET certified officers, and one federally certified officer. Two other marshals are also in the process of completing their certification. Some of the officers have dual certification.
"By having CLEET certified officers, the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service is able to cover a larger area since the marshals are able to perform their jobs without assistance," said Sharon Wright, Captain of the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service.
Brett Mull has been with the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service since August 2000 and Murray Gross has been with the Cherokee Nation Marshal Service since September 2000.
