TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Heritage Center proudly presents the Oklahoma Fancy Dancers, a premier group of intertribal dancers and singers on Saturday, September 30, 2000 at 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Center’s Tsa-La-GiAmphitheater. This internationally known dance troupe is renowned for its spectacular and colorful traditional American Indian dance performances.
Ticketsare $10 for adults and $5 for Northeastern University Students (with student I.D.) and children ages 6-12. Senior citizens, all other students, and groups of 10 or more may deduct 10% from the cost. Children 5 and under are free. Each member of the Oklahoma Fancy Dancers is widely experienced in the pow-wow arenas of North America. All are considered among the World Class Champions in their dance categories in competitions nationwide.
The group has been the top-billed performance at numerous concerts, festivals, and celebrations nationwide, including: the National Very Special Arts Festival; Oklahoma’s Red Earth Festival; the Greater Biscayne Native American Festival in Miami, Florida; other area community festivals and celebrations; a multitude of international cultural events.
Performances by the troupe are educational, informational, and showcase a variety of traditional American Indian tribal dances. A colorful description of the historical origin and significance introduces each dance, as well as explanations of the transformation many of the dances have undergone in today’s contemporary dance culture.
