TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma's (CNO) Information Systems division is nearly finished upgrading the Cherokee Nation's internal computer network. In July of this year, the division began a total network overhaul of the internal network devices. The old system ran on 10 mega bit network devices and the new system has been upgraded to 100 mega bits. This improvement not only increased the overall network speed but also improved the network’s reliability. Users will now enjoy a faster connection to the Internet as well as a faster connection to all their accounting and network applications. In addition to the improved network speed, all of the CNO's internal wiring closets, which are where the computer wires connect together, have been overhauled. Advanced wire management techniques have been applied as well as replacement of all of the old wiring.
The Cherokee Nation's Information Systems Department is constantly looking for ways to improve the Cherokee Nation’s computing environment and finding ways to meet your communication needs. The Cherokee Nation network is constantly growing and with the addition of the new EMS building and the planning for further growth, Information Systems will be busier than ever.
