TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma will host a weeklong camp devoted entirely to Cherokee Culture at the Camp Egan retreat center October 9-12. The camp is open to participants 18 and older who are interested inlearning more about Cherokee language, history and culture. The event will feature Hastings Shade, Deputy Chief of the Cherokee Nation, as well as cultural artisans from the Cherokee Cultural Resource Center. Daily activities will include hands-on workshops, storytelling sessions, and arts and crafts, as well as traditional Cherokee foods.

The camp will begin on Monday morning and end at noon on Thursday. A maximum of 60 participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Two special evening sessions will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for those who cannot attend during the day. The registration fee for both evening sessions is $75. Deadline for registration is Friday, October 6, 2000.
