TAHLEQUAH, OK - Principal Chief Chad Smith’sannual State of the Nation address at the Cherokee National Holiday will be carried live on the Internet on the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma’s web site. In his address, Smith will assess the first year of his administration and deliver his vision of the future.
Organizers expect a crowd of nearly 100,000 visitors during the Holiday weekend. The State of the Nation ceremony will be held Saturday at noon in front of the Cherokee Nation courthouse in downtown Tahlequah. Smith will hold a brief news conference for credentialed media inside the courthouse directly following the address.
Media credentials and press packets will be available in the Cherokee Nation courthouse between 9 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Media will have reserved parking on Keetoowah Street, just south of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma courthouse.
