TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Fifth Annual Cherokee Homecoming Show will open Saturday, November 4, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cherokee Heritage Center’s National Museum. The exhibit showcases dozens of pieces by tribal members. Artists will compete for awards in eight categories, with a combined worth of more than $5,000.The categories include: visual art, which includes painting, graphics, and sculpture; photography; basketry; jewelry and beading; traditional and contemporary pottery; textiles; metal-smithing; and traditional arts, which encompasses musical instruments, cooking utensils, and traditional weapons.
The show, made possible through generous donations from Texaco and the Oklahoma Arts Council closes Thursday, December 21, 2000.
