TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation, Oklahoma, wants to encourage tribal members in their efforts to start their own businesses. Working with the Oklahoma Native Business Development Center of Tulsa, the Cherokee Nation will offer a seminar on how to begin the funding process of a new business on Nov. 29 in room 116 in the hotel behind restaurant of the Cherokees, located on Highway 62 west of Tahlequah. To set up appointment, contact Sam Baptiste at the Oklahoma Native American Business Development Center, phone 592-1113.All lending institutions require a written business proposal in applications for start-up ventures. ONABDC and Cherokee Nation Credit and Finance representatives will be present to provide technical assistance to Native American interested in starting a business.
