TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma (CNO) will hold a workshop for Native Americans who are interested in starting their own business. The Self-Employment Workshop Orientation and Native American Botanicals Program will be held November 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cherokee Nation’s tribal council chambers in the W.W. Keeler complex.The Cherokee Nation offers free assistance in writing financing proposals and teaches the basics of operating your own small business. This 12-hour course is offered through the Credit and Finance Department. The class is set up for Individual Development Account (IDA) members wanting to open their own business, but anyone is free to attend.
The first evening of class will be orientation to the Self-Employment program and the students will discuss the best times for the remaining classes. Afterwards, a representative from Native American Botanicals will discuss business opportunities with in their company for those who know they want a business of their own but are not sure what type of business.
