TAHLEQUAH, OK - A team of Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma(CNO) tribal operations employees routed the field in a wheelbarrow race that marked the conclusion of Red Ribbon Week at Cherokee Nation.
"I should probably mention that none of the other teams showed up", said Flossie Girty, executive director of tribal operations for the Cherokee Nation. "But we ran the race anyway. I'm proud that our talented team was there to show their support and dedication to Red Ribbon Week."
Cherokee Nation employees wore red ribbons during the week to signify that they are drug free. Other activities through the week emphasized the benefits of abstaining from using illegal drugs.
The members of tribal operations’ winning team are: Terry Hooper, Clara Nottingham, Ruby Wells and Larry Pigeon
