TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation (HACN) and the Cherokee Nation Community Development Division will be taking public comments on the Annual Performance Report November 13 - 24, 2000.

The draft Annual Performance Report (APR) refers to the third years’ accomplishments for fiscal year October 1, 1999 to September 30, 2000, Cherokee Indian Housing Block Grant Numbers 98IH4005780, 99IH4005780, and 00IH4005780 under the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHASDA).

Congress passed the Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act into law October 26, 1996, which governs HACN.

The APR and comment forms are available for public review and comments throughout the 14-county tribal jurisdictional area at the following locations: Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation Administration; Cherokee Nation Tribal Complex; HACN Family Investment Center; Housing Authority of the Cherokee Nation Sub-offices located in Bartlesville, Catoosa, Claremore, Jay, Nowata, Porum, Stilwell, Vinita, and Warner; Cherokee Nation Sub-Offices located in Catoosa, Jay, Sallisaw, Vinita, Locust Grove, and Stilwell; Cherokee Nation Clinics and Indian Health Services (IHS) Hospitals in the following locations: Nowata Primary Healthcare, Nowata; Claremore Indian Hospital, Claremore; Muskogee Health Center, Muskogee; A-MO Community Clinic, Salina; Sam Hider Jay Community Clinic, Jay; W.W. Hastings Hospital, Tahlequah; Wilma P. Mankiller Health Center, Stilwell; and Redbird Smith Health Center, Sallisaw.

Anyone interested in reviewing the APR is encouraged to visit one of the locations. For more information contact either HACN or Cherokee Nation Community Development prior to going to a site for specific location, dates and times the report is available.

According to David Southerland, HACN Deputy Director, all public comments will be compiled in narrative form and submitted to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
