TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma Cultural Resource Center is soliciting artists/illustrators for upcoming literature projects. This includes projects published by Cherokee Nation, as well as outside publishers. An "Application for Inclusion in the Cherokee Nation Database" is available from the Center.Interested parties should complete and submit the form with a photocopied portfolio and brief biographical and cultural sketch. The portfolio should include five black and white images and two color images. Applicants under the age of 18 will need to submit a letter of recommendation from an art teacher, principal, or tribal leader. All applicants are also required to submit a copy of their CDIB and tribal membership cards.
The Cultural Resource Center is located in downtown Tahlequah at Water and Choctaw Streets, in the historic Cherokee National Prison. Application packets are available by contacting Lisa LaRue Tennison, Literature Review Coordinator, phone: 918-458-6170.
