TAHLEQUAH, OK — Construction will begin soon on a water line project that will extend community water service to approximately 36 Indian homes in Delaware County, thanks to a check from Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma (CNO).

The Delaware County Rural Water District #1 will accept a check for more than $200,000 from the Cherokee Nation in a ceremony at the tribal Council Chambers in Tahlequah on Friday, July 28 at 3:00 p.m.

The new water line will complete the Rattlesnake Hollow Waterline extension project. The Cherokee Nation will contribute an additional $200,000 to fund the project through it’s completion. The Indian Health Service originally awarded the funds to the Cherokee Nation for use in this project.
