TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma’s webmaster is featured in the current issue of "Yahoo! Internet Life" magazine, a leading national internet publication. The magazine chose to feature the CNO's webmaster, Tonia Williams, because of the site's quality and high visabilty. Williams was one of twenty people selected to "describe how they use the net". This was "Yahoo! Internet Life" magazine's "third annual look at what makes people click."Williams, who just recently redesigned the site, attributes both the new look and the article in Yahoo's magazine as the reason for a surge in the average daily number of hits to the site.
"Our hits have increased by more than 50 percent since we debuted the new design", Williams said. "The site is getting more than 4,000 different visitors on an average day", said Tonia Williams.
Recently the CNO's web site has also received several awards. Links2Go.net selected www.cherokee.org as one of the top 5 key resources for Native American topics. Raters from Zeal.com give the site a 4.7 rating on a scale of 1 to 5. Mailshell.com selected the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma's email newsletter, which Williams produces and distributes, as one of the best on the web.
