TAHLEQUAH, OK - Students at Sequoyah High School have raised test scores dramatically over the past five years. The average ACT scores increased an average of 3.8 points, with scores in science reasoning and English improving by an average of four points each. Students improved their scores in reading and mathematics by more than 2.5 points. By comparison, over the last five years the state average improved just 0.2 points and the national average stayed even."This says a lot about our students and staff", said Gina Stanley, the director of curriculum, instruction and counseling at Sequoyah. “We are pushing to provide the best possible education for these students. We hope to further this trend by aligning curriculum, increasing content coverage and holding ourselves accountable to measurable outcomes.”
"We are continuing to create an environment that will draw and keep the best and brightest educators in the area", said Tony Pivec, the principal at Sequoyah. “Our students deserve nothing less."
