Water and Salt is a good example and we will examine the differences in this lesson. Water A-ma Formal A-m Conversational Things to remember: When you pronounce the word, "water" you must be sure that you do not hold the (a) to long and you must say it rather quickly or the meaning changes to salt. Water A:ma Formal A:m Conversational Things to remember: You will notice that I have separated the sounds with a (:) instead of a (-), this is to instruct you that you hold the vowel sound a little longer.
