The first phrase we are going to study is (ke-na) which translates to "Come here." This phrase can be utilized just as you would use in the English. Practice by calling your friend, spouse or even the family pet. This is easy word that you can incorporate into your daily conversation. There is no short form for the word (ke-na). Note: Most commands that are spoke in the Cherokee language are said in the full form. This is much like a parent that might scold their child. For example, "John David Smith, You get over here right now." It's is the same in Cherokee language. When you are trying to get your point across or you are speaking formally to the public, your speech would become more distinct and full. The next word is (hi-ne-na) which translates into "Let's you and I go." You may have noticed that the two new phrases sound somewhat alike, the reason being is that they have the same root word. This is a good phrase to use with your child or spouse when you are ready to go. Let's go. (You and I) Big Cove & Giduwa dialect (hi-ne-na) Let's go. (You and I) Giduwa dialect (i-ne-na) Note: A lot of speakers of the Giduwa dialect will leave off the initial (h) in the (hi-ne-na). I do not consider this to be informal. I just consider it to be a difference with the same dialect. You can also specify where you intend to go. Here are some examples: Let's go to the store. (You and I) A-da-na-nv hi-ne-na Store let's go. Let's go to Big Cove. (You and I) Ko-lv-nv-yi hi-ne-na Big Cove let's go. Let's go to Wolf Town. (You and I) Wa-yo-hi hi-ne-na Wolf Town let's go. Let's go to Cherokee. (You and I) E-la-wo-di hi-ne-na Cherokee let's go. *For new members-If you have just started receiving lessons you can go to http://www.listbot.com, click List Subscribers and enter your member information, click (View List Archives), click (Cherokee Language Lessons) and choose the back lesson that you need. .
