Blue 

Today we will continue learning adjectives. In your lesson, you will also
receive an adjective and a noun. The adjective usually, but not always
proceeds the noun when you are describing something in the Cherokee language.


When you play the sound file you will hear the adjective first, in its formal
and conversational forms. You will then here the small descriptive phrase
where the adjective describes the noun. Remember we always try to focus on
the conversational form.

Blue (adjective)

Sa-ko-ni-ge-i Formal 

Sa-ko-ni-ge Conversational

Things to remember: Blue is used symbolically to represent the north, cold
and defeat. If you look at a Sioux medicine wheel you will notice that yellow
is the color used rather than the blue. 

smoke (noun)

tsu-ga-sv-s-di Formal

Blue Smoke 

Sa-ko-ni-ge-i tsu-ga-sv-s-di Formal

Sa-ko-ni-ge tsu-g-sv-s-di Conversational

Things to remember: I have heard the Great Smoky Mountains referred to as the
land of the Blue Smoke.
