Rock Announces Candidacy for
Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma Tribal Council

Calvin Rock, a half-blood Cherokee from Muskogee, announced he will be a candidate for the Cherokee Nation Tribal Council in the Three River's District (This is Councilor Troy Poteete's District one of our good 6 councilors who have boycotted Byrd's loyalists illegal meetings)

The district includes Muskogee and Wagoner counties.

Rock, 44, is a longtime resident of the area. Born in Possum Hollow, he graduated from Porum High School in 1971 and is currently a supervisor at Fort James Paper Co. in Muskogee.

He said he is prepared to commit the time and energy the position demands and would be "a present and active participant" in the council's business.

The tribe deserves leaders interested in forging a postive direction, he said.

Rock said he looks forward to working with any administration committed first and foremost to the welfare of the tribe.

Rocks wife of 26 years, Joyce Rock is a math teacher at Hilldale High School in Muskogee and also is Cherokee. He has two children and two grandchildren.
