A Hundred Miles of Bad Road:
An Armored Cavalryman in Vietnam, 1967-68
Dwight W. Birdwell, Keith William Nolan / Hardcover/ Published 1997
Synopsis: An Oklahoma Cherokee, Dwight W. Birdwell served the military in Vietnam, starting as a gung-ho soldier in a well-led, hard charging cavalry troop. After the Tet Offensive, and by the time Birdwell rotated home, morale in Vietnam was shot, and malingering, marijuana, and defeatism were the order of the day. Birdwell is now an attorney with his own law firm. 32 photos. The author/Co-Author, Dwight W. Birdwell, Comments 04/02/98: This book is more about maintaining a sense of decency and respect for humanity than it is about war, and the consequences of following that course of conduct.
